Jim Rickards is a big advocate of complexity theory. Read several of his books and watched a good number of interviews. Very entertaining but old school inactionable.
Yes - it is a broad framework which helps other analytical tools/methodologies, IMO. Jim's optimization function is generally selling books, which he has been pretty good at! Thought Currency Wars was very good.
